Connecticut-based funk quintet Kung Fu kicked off their two-night run at Brooklyn Bowl last night with a concert packed with sit ins including 12-year-old guitar phenom Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and more.

The group first welcomed out trombonist and Trey Anastasio Band member Natalie Cressman, along with Particle keyboardist Steve Molitz, who joined in for “Joyride,” the title track from their recent album, with an interlude of Funkadelic’s “One Nation Under a Groove.”

Later, Niederauer, who is currently starring in the Broadway production of School of Rock, came onstage to join the band for another Funkadelic tune, “Maggot Brain,” which saw the young guitarist duel it out with Kung Fu’s Tim Palmieri in a battle that had both musicians playing their instruments behind their heads

Taz would return to the stage during the encore for a performance of “Saul Good,” during the encore, and the night was closed out when the band welcomed Jeff Austin Band banjoist Ryan Cavanaugh for the final tune, “Paragon.”

See the full setlist below, along with a video of Taz and the band playing “Saul Good.”
