Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis has been hospitalized, forcing the band to cancel their appearance at the KROQ WeenieRoast at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre, ABC 7 is reporting.

The 53-year old is in the hospital for undisclosed medical reasons and Flea made the announcement from the stage. “Anthony is on his way to the hospital right now and we’re unable to play this evening,” the bassist said to the crowd. “We are devastated about it. We’re really sad. We love you so much. We live to rock. But unfortunately there’s a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it.”

No other information is available at this moment. The band’s next scheduled show is May 17 in Burbank, CA.
