Phil Lesh hit the stage with an eclectic group of Friends last night at the Capitol Theatre as the bassist brought together guitarists Warren Haynes and Eric Krasno along John Medeski, Alex Koford and Tony Leone.

The Memorial Day Weekend run kicked off with some select cover material, as the first set was peppered with takes on “The Weight,” “Blue Sky” and a closing “All Along the Watchtower.” The second set stuck closer to the Grateful Dead canon but did include “Spots of Time,” a Warren Haynes tune he wrote with Phil Lesh for Ashes & Dust.

The run continues tonight with Melvin Seals joining the fold, marking his Phil & Friends debut.
