Phil Lesh continued his Memorial Day Weekend run at the Capitol Theatre as the bassist welcomed Melvin Seals to the fold for the first time in the storied keyboardist’s career.

Also joining in once again was Warren Haynes, Eric Krasno, Alex Koford and Tony Leone as the two-set show touched on some Grateful Dead classics as well as a slew of covers including early takes on Jimmy Cliff’s “Harder They Come” as well as Traffic’s “Low Spark.” The first set closed with a pair of covers in Allman Brothers’ “Midnight Rider” and The Beatles’ “She Said She Said.”

While the first set was light on Dead material, the second set kicked off with a “Playin’ in the Band” that found its way into Ryan Adams’ “Let It Ride” and another cover in Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love.” From there, it was predominately Grateful Dead tunes as “Cosmic Charlie” led into “Dark Star” which was paired with “Lady with a Fan” and “Terrapin Station” before the “Playin’” finale. “Lazy River Road” brought the show to a close.
