The Dean Ween Group and Claypool Lennon Delirium played a couple shows together over the weekend in Ohio and New York, trading sit ins with Dean Ween and Les Claypool during the Friday and Saturday night performances.

First, on Friday at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, OH, DWG played an opening set that was set to feature legendary Parliament Funkadelic/Talking Heads keyboardist Bernie Worrell, but the musician had to cancel due to his ongoing battle with lung cancer. The group posted a note prior to the show, saying that they had prepared for Worrell by both adding another P-Funk member, guitarist Michael Hampton, and including P-Funk songs in the setlist, noting that the show had turned into “a straight up tribute to Bernie,” because “the fonk must go on.” The band ended up playing a set with Hampton that included P-Funk tunes like “Promentalshitbackwashpsychosis Enema Squad (The Doo Doo Chasers)” and “Red Hot Mama.” They also welcomed out Claypool for a run of Ween’s “The Mollusk.” Watch a video of that performance above.

The following night at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre, Dean Ween returned the favor by joining CLD on the Primus tune “Southbound Pachyderm” during the band’s encore. Watch that performance below. “Pachyderm” is the song that launched the CLD collaboration when Sean Lennon sat in on the tune with Primus last summer.
