Desert Trip, a new festival that will debut for two weekends this October in Indio, CA, will feature some of the biggest names in classic rock, as The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Who and Roger Waters will come together for six nights over the two weeks. Now, it has been reported that the lineup could have been even more star-packed, as Led Zeppelin were apparently also contacted to participate in what fans are calling “Oldchella,” as the shows are being put on by one of the producers of Coachella, Goldenvoice.

As Roger Friedman’s Showbiz 411 (via JamBase) reports, each of the acts are set to receive $7 million for each weekend, for a total of $14 for the full run, and Led Zeppelin received the same offer from the organizers. Friedman says that guitarist Jimmy Page was “all for it” but his Zep bandmate Robert Plant wouldn’t agree to the reunion. He notes that one of his sources told him “Jimmy went crazy. He really wanted to do it.”

The two members of Led Zeppelin recently appeared in court in an ongoing lawsuit over whether or not they stole the riff from “Stairway to Heaven” from a song by the group Spirit. Desert Trip will take place in Indio on October 7–9 and 14–16.
