This past Saturday, Brooklyn Bowl hosted the reunion of RANA as part of the going away party for two of the venue’s longtime employees, Pete and Amanda Costello. The night marked the band’s first full show since 2011.

Formed in Princeton, NJ, RANA—guitarist Scott Metzger, bassist Andrew Southern, drummer Ryan Thornton and keyboardist Matt Durant—served as one of the Wetlands’ house bands in its later years and also had close ties with Phish lyricist Tom Marshall. (Both Metzger and Southern were members of Amfibian.) Metzger currently plays with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and leads WOLF! Thornton performed in the indie-rock groups Sam Champion and Sean Bones and Durant records as Matt Trowbridge.

The performance, which was the first live show from RANA since an intimate appearance in Brooklyn in September, featured sit ins from Trey Anastasio Band’s James Casey, along with Pete Costello, who manages Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and has tour managed acts like the Benevento/Russo Duo, Mickey Hart, Greyboy Allstars and more.
