Tedeschi Trucks Band are the latest to update fans on the status of their North Carolina shows after the passing of the HB2 law forced numerous acts playing the state to cancel their shows.

TTB will move ahead with their two Wheel of Soul stops, which finds them teaming with Los Lobos and North Mississippi Allstars, slated for July 22 in Cary, NC and July 24 in Charlotte. The band noted that they will be offering gender-neutral bathrooms and the band will also make a donation to Equality North Carolina.

“We believe in equality and dignity of every person,” the band wrote in a statement. “We also believe that music transcends politics, religion and race and should serve as a bridge to bring people together and celebrate what unites us instead of what divides us.”

The Tedeschi Trucks Band looks forward to rolling through North Carolina this summer with our “Wheels of Soul” tour. While the band doesn’t typically mix politics and music, given the political climate in North Carolina surrounding the HB2 bill, we feel compelled to make a statement prior to our upcoming performances in the state. We believe in the equality and dignity of every person. We also believe music transcends politics, religion and race and should serve as a bridge to bring people together and celebrate what unites us instead of what divides us.

As most of you know on March 23, 2016, the North Carolina legislature passed House Bill 2 (“HB2,” aka “The Bathroom Bill”) that we think unfairly targets and intentionally discriminates against the transgender and broader LGTB community. We know that there are passionate viewpoints on both sides of this bill and we simply ask that everyone research the issue fully so that they can make their own informed decision. As a show of solidarity and faith in all the good people of North Carolina, our two shows in the state at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary (7/22) and the Uptown Amphitheater in Charlotte (7/24) will be providing gender-neutral bathrooms and TTB will be making a significant donation to Equality North Carolina (equalitync.org), an organization committed to repealing House Bill 2. We look forward to sharing our music with everyone in the beautiful State of North Carolina this summer.
