Wayne Jackson, the trumpet player who rose to stardom with the Memphis Horns alongside Andrew Love, has passed away. He was 74.

Jackson reportedly died of congestive heart failure last night after being previously released from the hospital on June 7. He was readmitted on Monday and passed away Tuesday night.

Jackson, alongside tenor sax player Andrew Love, made their name by recording with the likes of Otis Redding, Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley, U2, Jack White, Buddy Guy, Neil Young, Sting, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Winwood, The Doobie Brothers and many more over the years. In 2012, the duo were awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award for outstanding artistic significance in music.
