Former Grateful Dead vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux will reunite her post-Dead group, Heart of Gold Band, for a show at Bob Weir’s Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, CA, on what would have been the late Jerry Garcia’s 74th birthday on August 1.

Godchaux formed the band in 1980 with her husband Keith after the couple left the Dead. The original lineup featured guitarist Steve Kimock, who was introduced by the band into the world of the Dead and now has become a staple in the scene, along with drummer Greg Anton, bassist Dexter LaBlanc and vocalist Greta Rose. Keith died soon after their first show, and the band played together for only a year but reformed for a stint in 2004 with Godchaux’s current husband, David MacKay, along with Anton, Keith’s brother Brian and several other new members.

The Sweetwater reunion will feature Kimock, Anton, MacKay and Mookie Siegel joining forces with Godchaux. Ticketing information is available here.
