Earlier this week, Apple had a patent approved that allows the company to enable their phones to prohibit videos and photos being captured at certain music venues and events.

As Patently Apple notes, the software would detect in infrared signal at the venue that would blur the photos and stop videos from being taken. This aspect of the patent has previously been met with controversy in the tech world even prior to its approval. The infrared technology could also be used to act as a sort of museum guide by detecting what the phone’s owner is viewing and providing information.
