Apple appears to be making real moves in the music streaming world, as the proprietors of Apple Music are in talks to purchase Jay Z’s streaming platform TIDAL, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Jay Z purchased TIDAL early last year and promised to provide high-quality sound through the service while paying the musicians what they deserved. TIDAL has boasted several high-profile artists as its supporters, including Kanye West, Jack White, Madonna, Deadmau5 and more.

Jay Z has recently been reportedly trying to sell the service to companies like Samsung and Rhapsody, but to no avail. The WSJ notes that the talks with Apple “are ongoing and may not result in a deal, these people said. Terms of the potential deal aren’t known.” A spokesman for TIDAL said the company’s executives had not talked with Apple.
