Umphrey’s McGee kicked off their annual Red Rocks run with a show that saw them jam with opener Dweezil Zappa on an Umphrey’s tune as well as a Zappa debut.

It all started late in the first set when the band welcomed out Zappa on “Utopian Fir,” one of the band’s most expansive jam vehicles before the ensemble transitioned into Zappa’s “Muffin Man” from his 1975 album Bongo Fury.

The rest of the show was highlighted by extended jams in the second set including “Bridgeless,” “2×2,” “Bright Lights Big City” and a “Der Bluten Kat” that anchored the second set, marking one of the longest jams of the evening.

Umphrey’s return to Red Rocks tonight.
