Phish followed up their bustout-heavy third night at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium with a more disjointed, predictable show at The Forum in Inglewood.

The show, webcast on LivePhish, kicked off with a more than standard first set as the band opened with “Moma Dance” and a sloppy “Sample in a Jar” before the lone surprise of the night—the first “Paul and Silas” since October 20, 2013.

From there, more standard first set tunes emerged as Mike Gordon led the band on “Yarmouth Road” before Page McConnell got his chance to shine on “Halfway to the Moon.” The rest of the first set was rounded out by a pairing of “Heavy Things” and “Blaze On,” a rather disjointed “Stash” and “Cavern” preceding the “Run Like an Antelope” closer.

Momentum failed to pick up in the second set despite the opening rocker “Axilla” kicking things off. “Fuego” saw the first glimpse of improv on the night however it was gone as quickly as it arrived as the group moved into a standard “Back on the Train.”

“Saw it Again” made its fourth appearance of 2016, marking the most times it has been played in a year since 1997. That aside, the rest of the set failed to get off the ground as even “Waves” stayed within the confines of the song. A playful “Scent of a Mule” and “You Enjoy Myself” closer attempted to salvage a rather underwhelming set and show as the group exited for the encore.

In said encore, the band would roll through three fun, well-known tunes like “Boogie On Reggae Woman,” “Bouncing Around the Room” and a finale of “Golgi Apparatus.”

Phish returns to the stage tonight in Chula Vista, CA.
