Last night, Joe Walsh and Jason Isbell headlined the World Cafe Live stage in Philadelphia, PA, as part of a non-partisan event during the Democratic National Convention that is taking place in the city this week.
Isbell, along with fellow musician and wife Amanda Shires, joined Walsh for one of his classics, “Rocky Mountain Way,” and both of the guests posted about the experience on Twitter, with Isbell saying “a good day was had” with Walsh, guitarist Waddy Wachtel and “the rest of Joe’s awesome band.” Shires Tweeted a side-stage video of Walsh and company performing and recounted how Walsh had her take a fiddle solo during their sit in. Last Wednesday, Isbell made a surprise appearance at New York’s Central Park SummerStage, playing guitar during Shires’ support set for Ryan Adams.
Isbell and Walsh also visited the recovery wellness room at the convention to speak on their experiences with addiction and recovery and how they stay sober as musicians on the road, the Courier-Post reports. “The fact of the matter is,” Walsh said during the talk, “Everyone in this country is dependent on something.”
