moe. played their first of two shows at Saranac Brewery in Utica, NY, last night, treating fans to a collaboration with opener Ryan Montbleau and a rare cover of the Grateful Dead in the process.

A seamless first set that kicked off with a run of “Timmy Tucker” sandwiching “Threw It All Away” came to a close with Montbleau and his bandmates Kit Holliday and Lydia Harrell coming onstage to help out on a cover of Steely Dan’s “Bodhisattva.” Near the middle of the second set, the group brought out their cover of the Grateful Dead’s “The Other One” for the first time since January 24, 2015. Watch a clip of the percussion-fueled transition into that tune above.

moe. return to Saranac tonight with support from Pigeons Playing Ping Pong. Saranac President Fred Matt recently talked to moe. drummer Vinnie Amico about the Upstate New York connection connection between the brewery and the band and all things beer and music in an interview that can be found here.
