Trey Anastasio Band closed out the inaugural Vertex Festival in Colorado last night with a set that saw the Phish guitarist joined by a few close associates who haven’t been directly involved with the current lineup.

TAB trombonist Natalie Cressman’s father Jeff filled in for regular saxophonist James Casey, who is currently on tour with pop star Meghan Trainor. Cressman, who also plays trombone and has toured as a member of Carlos Santana’s band, formed a dual-trombone attack with his daughter to complement trumpet player Jen Hartswick. The elder Cressman was a member of Anastasio’s backing band for a brief period in 2006 and 2007. He also sat in with Trey Anastasio Band in 2013.

In addition, Cyro Baptista joined the ensemble on percussion for the entire show, marking his first appearance with TAB since 2013. Baptista first joined up with Anastasio’s solo project in 2002 and has been a periodic member of the group throughout the years since.

Both Jeff Cressman and Baptista will perform with Trey Anastasio Band at Scranton, PA’s annual Peach Music Festival this weekend.

The set featured a number of Anastasio’s live staples with his solo band as well as a few choice covers including Bob Marley’s “Soul Rebel” as well as Ana Tijoux’s “1977.” In the second set, Jen Hartswick led the ensemble on “Clint Eastwood” before the “Night Speaks to a Woman” closer. Led Zeppelin’s “Dazed & Confused” closed the set.
