On September 2, Light in the Attic Records will reissue Dixie Fried, the 1972 solo album from Luther Dickinson, the late producer, musician and father of North Mississippi Allstars’ Luther and Cody Dickinson.

The elder Dickinson was renowned for his production on albums by Big Star, The Replacements, Toots and the Maytals, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and more, including Big Star’s 1974 record Third. As a musician, Dickinson played with backing band Dixie Flyers and his group Mud Boy and the Neutrons, along with providing piano on cuts by The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder and more.

The reissued Dixie Fried will feature liner notes by producer Alec Palao, unseen photos from the Dickinson family and seven unreleased tracks. Listen to “Relax Your Mind” below.
