Gov’t Mule kicked off their tour with Blackberry Smoke last night in Portland, ME at the State Theatre. Among the highlights included a new Beatles cover for the band’s repertoire as well as the first of many collaborations with Blackberry Smoke along the way.

For starters, the band peppered their set early on with covers of Radiohead’s “Creep” as well as a “St. Stephen” jam out of “Eternity’s Breath.” Later on in the set, Mule reached back to the Beatles’ Revolver era with “And Your Bird Can Sing,” a debut for the group.

Blackberry Smoke guitarist Charlie Starr then came on to add vocals and guitar to Marshall Tucker Band’s “Can’t You See” in the encore, closing the show.

The tour continues tonight in Asbury Park, NJ.
