After Gregg Allman was forced to take some time off the road due to “serious health issues,” The Peach Festival in Scranton, PA, had to cancel the previously planned Gregg Allman Incident, putting The Allman Brothers Family Incident in its place. The new collective brought together The String Cheese Incident with members of the Allmans and frequent collaborators for a set of music that paid homage to the legendary roots band.

Throughout the set, String Cheese welcomed founding ABB drummers Butch Trucks and Jaimoe, along with onetime members in bassist Oteil Burbridge, percussionist Marc Quiñones and guitarist Jack Pearson. All of the musicians are also members of Les Brers, the Allman Brothers offshoot that played the festival earlier in the day. Their bandmates, keyboardist Bruce Katz and vocalist Lamar Williams Jr. (son of former ABB bassist Lamar Williams), also joined in on the set, along with Gregg Allman Band guitarist Scott Sharrard, who played the entire Incident.

The set featured many of the Allman Brothers classic originals and staple covers, kicking off with “Statesboro Blues” and “Midnight Rider.” Other tunes featured in the set included “Melissa,” “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,” a video of which can be viewed above thanks, Bob Dylan’s “Quinn The Eskimo” and the set closing run of “Jessica” with a “Drums” interlude.

The String Cheese Incident kick off their two-night stand at Brooklyn’s Kings Theatre tonight.
