Gov’t Mule continued their run with opening band Blackberry Smoke last night at Pittsburgh’s Stage AE, once again welcoming their tour mates onstage for the closing cover songs of the night.

While Blackberry Smoke guitarist Charlie Starr is becoming a sit-in staple on the tour leg, a few of his bandmates joined him in the collaboration this time, as four out of five members of Blackberry Smoke ended up playing with Mule on the night.

To kick off the encore, Starr and his bandmates Brandon Still and Brit Turner to join Mule for the blues standard and Allman Brothers Band live favorite “Statesboro Blues,” with Blackberry Smoke’s Richard Turner replacing Mule’s Jorgen Carlsson on bass. Carlsson would then retake bass duties for a “Blue Sky” that segued into the Grateful Dead’s “Franklin’s Tower” before closing out the night with a “Blue Sky” reprise. See the full setlist below.

Gov’t Mule and Blackberry Smoke will return to the stage tonight at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre in Rochester Hills, MI.
