Umphrey’s McGee continued their mini-Tennessee run with a stop at the Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, marking their fourth consecutive year stopping at the historic venue.

The show was highlighted early on by a cover of Waylon Jennings’ “Good Ol’ Boys,” played for the first time since October 29, 2014. The 2011 original “Forks” also continued its slow comeback into rotation with its third play on the year after returning in May at the band’s UMBowl event in Las Vegas.

The second set kicked off with a unique use of the band’s PA intros typically played to start the show, as they worked in “You Got the Wrong Guy” as an intro to “All in Time” and then jammed on “October Rain” in the middle of the tune before returning to the end section of “All in Time.”

Maybe the highlight jam of the set came in “Plunger” as the group descended into a “Sludge & Death” type jam out of the ending of “Plunger” before finding their way into “Miss Tinkle’s Overture.” Later on, the group broke out the first rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Young Lust” since June 4, 2015.

Umphrey’s returns to Tennessee tonight, this time in Nashville where they will be joined by the Nashville Symphony.
