Gov’t Mule played a special three-band concert last night at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO, sharing both the bill and the stage with moe. and their tour mates Blackberry Smoke while bringing out covers of Pink Floyd, The Beatles and more.
After kicking off their set with some Mule originals and a run of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Soulshine,” Warren Haynes and company covered The Beatles’ “And Your Bird Can Sing,” complementing the ABB tune “Kind of Bird” that came before.
Two songs later, the band nodded to their co-billed friends by playing their rendition of moe.‘s “Opium.” The cover kicked off a run of Pink Floyd Tunes, “One of These Days” into “Fearless,” before the set was rounded out with a “Blind Man in the Dark” that featured teases of the Grateful Dead’s “Shakedown Street.”
For the encore, Mule brought out both moe. and Blackberry Smoke’s Charlie Starr and Brandon Still—continuing their tour trend of collaborating with their tour partners—for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released.” Watch a video of that performance above.
