In the wake of the sever flooding that has happened this month in Louisiana, New Orleans’ Preservation Hall Foundation has announced the creation of a new emergency relief fund to help musicians whose lives have been affected by the disaster.

The Foundation has also announced a benefit concert to raise money for the fund. The Preservation Hall All-Stars, GIVERS, Big Freedia, Pell and Boyfriend will all perform at the Varsity Theater in Baton Rouge on September 18.

“I can speak for the musicians of Preservation Hall that it was inconceivable to continue sharing our music after Hurricane Katrina without the immediate support we received from our network around the world,” says Ben Jaffe, Creative Director of Preservation Hall. “We want to be there for our musical brothers and sisters in Baton Rouge and Lafayette in their time of need.”

In related news, the Music Maker Relief Foundation has teamed up with the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation to create the Baton Rouge Musicians Fund, which will support musicians affected by the Louisiana floods.
