After announcing the debut album from his Electric Beethoven project, bassist Reed Mathis has revealed the initial dates of the group’s Rebirth Tour, which will kick off in Burlington, VT, after visiting Catskill Chill the day before.
Electric Beethoven reinterprets the music of the legendary composer into improv-ready arrangements, forming what Mathis calls Classical Dance Music. While the album features guests like Mike Gordon, Marco Benevento and more, the touring group consists of drummers Jay Lane and Cochrane McMillan, keyboardist Todd Stoops and guitarist Clay Welch, along with Mathis on bass.
Watch an introductory video from Mathis below, which explains his process in creating the band and his view for its future and provides a preview of their live sound in the form of a live recording of “Rebirth” from Beethoven’s 3rd Symphony.
