Gregg Allman, who was forced to cancel several tour dates due to “serious health issues,” has announced he will make his return to the stage when his own Laid Back Festival comes to Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on September 25.

In a press release, Allman is said to have been “given a clean bill of health from his doctors” and chose the Red Rocks show as his return due to his history with the iconic venue. Allman will be joined by his guitarist Scott Sharrard for an acoustic set at the festival before headliners ZZ Top take the stage.

“I just can’t wait to get back out there,” Allman says in the release. “I’ve gotten so stir crazy these last few weeks. I feel best when I’m traveling and playing. That’s what keeps me going, and there’s no better place to start than Red Rocks.”

Allman will also appear at the Laid Back Fest in Atlanta on October 29 and will play a 10-night residency at New York’s City Winery starting November 6.
