Last week, Phish detailed their newest Bob Ezrin-produced release, Big Boat, due out on October 7. And now, the first preview of the album is available in the form of “Breath and Burning,” a tune the band has road-tested this summer.

“I wrote this song on the beach after our three-night run in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico last January,” Trey Anastasio told NPR. “I loved watching the faces of all the people dancing and splashing in the ocean while we played. I kept thinking, ‘This will all end sooner or later, one way or another. So I’m gonna enjoy every last second of it while we’re still here.’”

Unlike the live version, the studio song incorporates a full horn section and layered vocals and guitar. Listen below.
