Next month, Dave Matthews will continue his effort to strengthen relations between Cuba and the United States, as he will team up with Cuban singer-songwriter Carlos Varela for a show in Washington, DC, on November 13.

Matthews and Varela, who is associated with the political and musical Nueva Trova movement in his own country, previously joined forces as cultural delegates earlier this year. During that trip, Matthews spoke on the two countries’ improving relations, saying, “I hope it’s good for both of us. I think that there’s a lot that the world can get from this country.”

This time around, Matthews and Varela will play at a concert celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Center for Democracy in the Americas.
