MUSACK was founded by writer-producer Donick Cary ( The Simpsons, Parks and Recreation, Silicon Valley, The New Girl) to fund musical programs at his hometown high school on Nantucket (the ACK comes from the nickname for the island, drawn from the Nantucket airport code). The 501c3 charitable organization now supports a range of music programs, all of which are financed through donations. MUSACK’s big annual event, the 6th Annual Rock and Roll Carnival takes place tomorrow, October 1, in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. Cary describes it as “a mini backyard Coachella. It’s super fun casual and crazy backyard party—the most unique ‘festival’ in the country today—food, art, music! Also, please don’t feed the dog scraps!”

In addition to an unnamed “super secret” headliner, performers include Deltron 3030, Cody ChesnuTT, Tim Armstrong, Hanni El Khatib, Tim Heidecker and many others. Shepard Fairey and Rodney Bingenheimer will contribute DJ sets. This year’s Carnival will celebrate the lives of David Bowie and Prince and will also offer food trucks, comedy and family activities.

A silent auction is now underway in conjunction with the event, offering items signed by Jimmy Carter, Bill Kreutzmann, John Mayer, Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, the cast of The New Girl, Justin Timberlake, a set of Lego Simpsons Series 1 Mini-figures signed by Dan Castellaneta (Homer) and Matt Groening, along with the proverbial much, much, more (really, check it out ).
