Bob Weir opened up his Campfire Tour in support of his new solo album Blue Mountain last night at the Marin County Veteran’s Auditorium in San Rafael, CA, playing cuts from the record as well as some Grateful Dead favorites. Weir was joined by album producer Josh Kaufman along with Steve Kimock, Jon Shaw and The National’s Bryan and Scott Devendorf.

The first set featured almost exclusively Blue Mountain songs, including the set-opening title track, “Only a River,” “Ghost Towns” and a “Gonesville” that appropriately segued out of the only non-album tune of the set, “He’s Gone.”

The following set strayed more into Dead territory, kicking off with “Althea” and continuing with “Me and My Uncle” and “Playing in the Band,” which wove in and out of “Looks Like Rain.” Weir then treated the crowd to a three-song encore of Blue Mountain track “Ki-Yi Bossie,” “Mama Tried” and “Ripple.”

Weir continues his tour tonight at the Fox Theatre in Oakland.
