Joe Russo’s Almost Dead continued their run at Brooklyn Bowl last night with the second of three shows, reprising their side-stage acoustic set that they unveiled the previous night and welcoming guitarist John Mayer to the stage for the entire second set and encore.

After kicking the night off with an energetic opening of “Tough Mama” into “Good Lovin’” and playing Grateful Dead staples like “Dark Star” and “Cassidy,” the collective moved to the side stage constructed above the venues bowling lanes for an acoustic set, bringing the show into the set break with an acoustic “Terrapin Station.” Watch a video of that performance below.

Set number two immediately started off with the surprise of the night, as Mayer, fresh off Dead & Company’s summer tour and his appearance at The Roots New York Picnic, joined the band onstage for a set-opening jam and remained for the rest of the night. Mayer helped out on tunes like “The Other One,” “New Speedway Boogie,” “Let It Grow” and “Touch of Grey,” the last of which can be seen above. The night then rounded out with an encore performance of “Quinn the Eskimo,” which can be seen in the video below.
