Luna Light Festival took place this past weekend in Darlington, MD, presenting multiple days of music and collaboration at Camp Ramblewood, including a set from Tom Hamilton’s American Babies that featured sit ins from Marco Benevento, The Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner, the Snarky Puppy horns and more.

The first guest of the set, however, was pianist Holly Bowling, who helped out on the first three tunes including a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Cumberland Blues,” which also featured Magner on keys. Hamilton’s Almost Dead bandmate Benevento, yet another keyboardist, would later come up for his own tune, “At the Show,” with Bowling and Magner. The Snarky Puppy horns joined in for “Old Time Religion” before just Benevento and the horns stayed on stage for a set-closing “Fever Dream,” which can be viewed above courtesy of the band.

Another highlight of the fest was an all-improvised set from a supergroup of Benevento, Joe Russo, John Medeski and Billy Martin. The performance, which was streamed live via Facebook, also featured guest spots from Bowling and the Snarky Puppy Horns, along with Benevento’s touring bandmates Karina Rykman and Andy Borger.
