Legendary guitarist and rock-and-roll pioneer Chuck Berry has announced an upcoming album of mostly new and original music, titled CHUCK and set for release in 2017 via Dualtone Records. The record will mark Berry’s first new release in 38 years.

Berry is backed on the album by a band featuring two of his children, guitarist Charles Berry Jr. and Ingrid Berry on harmonica, along with Berry’s longtime bassist Jimmy Marsala, pianist Robert Lohr and drummer Keith Robinson.

“This record is dedicated to my beloved Toddy,” says Berry, referencing his wife Themetta Berry. “My darlin’ I’m growing old! I’ve worked on this record for a long time. Now I can hang up my shoes!”

After writing and recording some of the early staples of rock-and-roll music, including Johnny B. Goode,” “Maybellene, “Roll Over Beethoven,” “Rock and Roll MusicBerry” and many more, Berry was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 after receiving a Lifetime Achievement Grammy award in 1984.

More information on the album is forthcoming.
