Gov’t Mule continued their run towards Halloween with a stop at the College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT and welcomed out sax player Steve Elson throughout for various Mule originals and covers.

Among them, Elson came out initially on Allen Toussaint’s “On Your Way Down” that found its way into “Sco-Mule.” Elson also stayed out for “Unring the Bell” and a set closer of “Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody’s Home.”

Mule’s second set found the group teasing Allman Brothers Band tunes throughout, as their take on Marley’s “Lively Up Yourself” included a foray into “Jessica” and the following “Game Face” included “American Bandstand,” “Birdland” and “Mountain Jam” teases as well.

Elson then returned later in the second set for “Sad & Deep As You” as well as “Kind of Bird” which forayed into “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” before returning back to “Kind of Bird.” Elson then helped the band on their own “Tastes Like Wine” to kick off the encore before departing.

Mule continue their run tonight in Albany, NY.
