moe.‘s Halloween run got started last night in Philadelphia at The Fillmore as the band paid tribute to the great director and writer Quentin Tarantino.

Throughout the show, the band interspersed clips from classic Tarantino films and accompanied those with the music, such as the opening number, a cover of Dick Dale’s “Misirlou” as seen in Pulp Fiction. moe. also reworked some of their originals to pay homage to some of his films, like the following tune “Crazy 88” played to the tune of “Crab Eyes” to reference Kill Bill.

Additional highlights throughout include an original by Al Schnier dubbed “Django” as well as a pair of Reservoir Dogs nods in “Stuck in the Middle” and Steppenwolf’s “Magic Carpet Ride.” The group also reworked their own “meat.” as “gimp.” (another Pulp Fiction reference) as well as “Bearsong” (turned into “Wolf Song”) and “Paper Dragon” (“Pussy Wagon”).

The show’s encore included another Kill Bill cover in “Woo Hoo” before the “Godzilla” finale. moe. returns to The Fillmore tonight for another Tarantino tribute.
