moe.‘s two-night ode to Quentin Tarantino came to a close last night at The Fillmore in Philadelphia as the band once again warped their own originals and covered tunes that appeared in some of Tarantino’s most classic films.

Among the highlights, an opening take on the Kill Bill track “Battle Without Honor or Humanity” before Pulp Fiction‘s “Bullwinkle Part II” by The Centurions. Continuing the theme of rearranging their own songs to fit the theme, moe. turned “Shoot First” into “Shot Marvin” (another Pulp Fiction reference) and “Head” into “Ear” to reference Reservoir Dogs.

In the second set, more Pulp Fiction references emerged with the opening take on Neil Diamond’s “Girl You’ll Be a Woman Soon” and “Vinny Vega,” taken from “Timmy Tucker.” The Pulp Fiction theme continued with a cover of “Rumble” from the film’s soundtrack as well as a cover of Kool and the Gang’s “Jungle Boogie” before the group turned their own “Stranger Than Fiction” into “Watching Pulp Fiction.” The finale was one final transformation, as “Billy Goat” morphed into “Kill Bill.”

Next up for moe. is a December 30 show at the Wilma Theatre in Missoula, MT.
