Ben Harper will perform at a San Francisco fundraiser for non-profit New Light India next month. The organization, founded by Urmi Basu, provides aid, shelter and education to girls and women in the red light district of Kalighat, India and are now working on their Boys Home Project in the city.

“For years I have admired New Light’s life-saving work protecting and educating young girls and boys who are vulnerable to sexual exploitation,” Harper says in a press release. “An important aspect of this issue is making sure that the boys of this horrific epidemic are tended to as well. My wife Jaclyn has visited Urmi and the children of New Light many times over the years and I am grateful that she has brought this critical issue to my attention. I am excited to put another concert on for this important cause.”

The event, billed as An Acoustic Evening with Ben Harper, will take place on December 11 at Bimbo’s 365 Club. Tickets for the show will go on sale this Friday, November 4. More information can be found at Harper’s website.
