Colorado’s Vertex Festival will not be returning next year after it’s inaugural gathering back in August, as festival organizers Madison House Presents announced yesterday that they will not be putting on the festival in 2017, The Denver Post reports.

The news comes after word came down a couple weeks ago that the Buena Vista, CO, community where Vertex was held was planning on enforcing strict noise restraints and earlier curfews, along with a limited renewal of the festival’s contract, after numerous complaints from local citizens after the inaugural festival. Though the contract agreement for next year was reached, Madison House says they need a three-year agreement to make the festival sustainable, and the delay has forced them past the deadline for planning next year’s event.

“Rushing forward could compromise the quality of the festival and is not in the best interest of Buena Vista or Vertex,” a statement from the organization read. “We look forward to ongoing productive discussions with the community so that we can best plan the dream of what Vertex can become.”

There were also many residents who lauded the economic benefits of the festival, and Madison House plans to attempt a renegotiation next year, which could possibly include an altered festival closer to the Gentlemen of the Road festival held in Salida in 2015.
