The Prince estate is suing Jay Z’s TIDAL over the streaming rights to the late icon’s music.

The legal battle, which The Star-Tribune reports has festered for months, escalated recently as Prince’s music entities filed a federal lawsuit alleging copyright infringement against Roc Nation (Jay Z’s company that also oversees TIDAL).

The complaint is that Roc Nation started “exploiting many copyrighted Prince works in addition to the works that comprise the HitNRun: Phase 1 album,” which the two sides originally agreed to stream exclusively on TIDAL for 90 days beginning August 1, 2015.

In addition, on October 21, November 7 and November 11, ROc Nation filed documents stating they had both written and oral agreements to exclusively stream Prince’s entire catalog, comprising nearly 40 albums, however no written documents were provided to confirm this.

The lawsuit currently filed by Prince’s estate demands for the issue to be decided by a jury along with a court order for TIDAL to stop streaming and selling Prince’s music other than his new HitNRun: Phase 1 record.
