Rush have announced they will release a special 40th Anniversary package of their classic 1976 album 2112 on December 16. The release will include previously unreleased material, live tracks and much more.

A number of the unreleased tracks will be covers of 2112 songs from the likes of Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters, Nick Raskulinecz, Billy Talent, Steven Wilson, Jacob Moon and Alice In Chains.

The package will come in multiple forms, including a two-CD/DVD set featuring a remastered edition of 2112, an album of the unreleased tracks and covers and a DVD of classic Rush concert footage and an interview with guitarist Alex Lifeson. A three-LP vinyl edition will also be available, along with a “super deluxe edition” with all the above included, plus bonus items.

More information on the release packages is available at the band’s website. Listen to a preview of the new tracks included with Alice In Chains’ version of “Tears” below.
