Guster celebrated their 25th anniversary at the Beacon Theatre with a career-spanning set that included material from all seven of their studio albums throughout. Along with the show, the band decorated the lobby of the venue with memorabilia from their past, including original sketches of the band’s various name changes in the early years.

Among the highlights on the music front, an opening set from Joe Pisapia’s new project, The Pisapia Love-In. Pisapia was a member of Guster from 2003-2010 and the group welcomed him out during their set for takes on “Backyard” and “Bad Bad World.”

Additional guests included The Silver Chords, a choral group from Smithtown, NY, who joined the band on “Empire State” and “All the Way Up to Heaven” as well as “Jesus On the Radio.”

The encore, which featured the band stripping down to an acoustic format, huddling around a microphone and standing next to a large, inflatable “Big Friend” sign, symbolic of the cover of their debut album Parachute.

Guster’s tour continues this week.
