Guitarist Derek Trucks has voiced his disinterest in the rumored Allman Brothers Band reunion, and now he has expounded on that statement, explaining his thoughts on his relationship with ABB and why he feels he is “fully moved on.”

In a recent interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Trucks spoke about the apparent messages that Gregg Allman has sent out to band members about the possible reunion, saying, “I get those group texts every once and while. But I don’t know how far down the road they are looking. I do know how far down the road I am. I’ve moved on.”

Trucks goes on to further explain that, while his work with Tedeschi Trucks Band keeps him busy enough, that isn’t the main reason he will be sitting out any ABB reunion that may happen. “I feel like we went out on the right note, and if anything is being put together, it’s probably not to enhance the legacy,” he says. “It might be more pocket-driven, and I’m not interested in that. There’s enough cynicism in the world, and I’m not going to contribute to it.”

The guitarist also speaks on his past solo days and splitting time with that and the Allmans, along with his increasing success with TTB and how he feels the band really took off when they added bassist Tim Lefebvre in 2013. Remembering the late Leon Russell, a friend and collaborator of Trucks, and speaking about TTB carrying the torch of bands like ABB, the Grateful Dead and Little Feat, Trucks looks forward to the next year, saying that he doesn’t have any plans to slow down in 2017. “I don’t want to let up,” he says. “I feel like there’s more good music right around the corner. You have to keep going after it when it’s so close.”
