A Kickstarter campaign has been launched in support of a new documentary called The US Generation, which delves into the 1982 US Festival, an event curated by legendary promoter Bill Graham that featured one of the greatest musical lineups of all time, with sets from the Grateful Dead, Fleetwood Mac, Talking Heads, Santana, The Police, The Ramones, Tom Petty, The Kinks and many more.

The documentary includes footage of the festival, both onstage music and B-roll filmed at the event, plus interviews with many of the artists who participated in the festival, some of which were filmed onsite in 1982. The film also explores the influence of Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, whose idea and financial backing made the US Festival possible.

“The US Generation documentary will entertain, educate, and enlighten music fans not only in the Los Angeles area, but around the world; not only those from the era, but from present day,” says director Glenn Aveni. “The film shows how a music event done right can change people’s lives for the better. This event set a new bar for all large outdoor festivals to follow. It also exemplified a time in history, maybe offering lessons we can still learn from today. In that vein, it is also testimony to one man’s humanity, generosity, and vision.”
