Neil Young will not appear at the 2017 Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia as the festival announced that Young’s appearance is cancelled.

Festival Director Peter Noble took to Facebook to announce the decision, noting he has “been aware of this as a possibility for a couple of weeks now.” After appeals to Young’s camp failed, Noble said, “Whilst details for the cancellation remain sketchy, from what I can gather Neil has decided to take 2017 off from the road.”

While no official statement has been made from Young, no tour dates are currently scheduled on his website. Noble did add, “I have no reason to believe this is due to any illness, I have been advised he is tired from recent touring, and I surmise wants to have some down time.”

Young recently completed a long run with Promise of the Real and will release his new album, Peace Trail, on December 9.
