Although Bob Dylan will not appear at the ceremony in Stockholm to accept his Nobel Prize for Literature, he did provide the committee with a speech to be read in his place at the banquet.
A tweet from The Nobel Prize confirmed the speech, which will be read at the ceremony on December 10.
In addition, Patti Smith will appear to perform Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” at the ceremony. Dylan initially dropped out due to “other commitments” that make it “unfortunately impossible” for him to be there.
