Ryan Adams returned to the stage last night in Sydney at a secret location where he reportedly previews his entire new album Prisoner, due out at a yet-to-be-announced date.

Adams noted that he played the album in full along with “a few oldies” with his band that featured new member Benny Yurco, formerly of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.

Not much is known about the record aside from a few interviews previewing the album. Adams noted on KCRW that this is “probably the most songs I ever wrote for a record.” He called the process “cathartic,” adding, “I feel like whatever I’m making bookends so much of what I’ve experienced in the last couple of years.”

Adams and his band will return to the stage proper tomorrow night at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. They will also play a December 9 gig in Tokyo.
