Bob Weir took part in the Christmas Jam pre-party at The Orange Peel in Asheville, recruiting a band that included Tom Hamilton, Holly Bowling, Don Was and drummer Duane Trucks.

Among the highlights, selections from Weir’s latest Blue Mountain as well as covers of “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and a “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall.” The band dipped into the Dead’s repertoire with “Friend o the Devil” and “Tennessee Jed” before welcoming out Warren Haynes to add guitar to the finale of “Touch of Grey.”

Weir will appear at the Christmas Jam tonight at the U.S. Cellular Center along with Gov’t Mule, Jamey Johnson and others.
