Chick Corea closed down a historic run at The Blue Note in New York City as a part of his 75th birthday celebration with a true birthday show that saw him collaborate with some of his longtime bandmates and songwriting partners.

The night, dubbed “Return to Forever meets Mahavishnu,” saw Corea welcome John McLaughlin, Victor Wooten and Lenny White to the stage for a show that would also feature Bela Fleck, Kenny Garrett and Wallace Roney.

To close the night, Corea was honored with a cake and a plaque to celebrate the final chapter of his massive run at the New York venue.

Over the past two months, Corea has put together various improvisational lineups at the Blue Note, honoring the different eras and projects of his career along with tribute shows to the likes of Miles Davis.
