Twiddle kicked off a two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, last night with a show that featured opening band RAQ and ended up seeing the host band welcome members of that band and Kung Fu for a raucous encore collaboration.

The guests started to appear near the end of the second set, when RAQ keyboardist Todd Stoops came out for a run of “The FRENDS Theme.” Stoops has sat in with the band before, and he appeared on their latest album, PLUMP: Chapter One. After returning to the stage for an encore, frontman Mihali Savoulidis welcomed back Stoops, along with his two RAQ bandmates, guitarist Chris Michetti and newly announced drummer Scotty Zwang, plus Kung Fu drummer Adrian Tramontano. The collective ripped through a crowd-pleasing cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird,” the first time Twiddle has played the tune since mid-summer 2014, a span of 253 shows. Twiddle return to the Cap stage tonight for round two, where they will be joined by opening band Madaila. A live stream is available through nugs.tv.
