Phish lyricist Tom Marshall launched a new podcast, Under the Scales, last month, and now Marshall has released the latest episode of the show featuring fellow lyricist Steve “The Dude of Life” Pollack.

The conversation marked a rare recorded interaction between the Trey Anastasio collaborators, and some of the topics touched upon include working with Anastasio before Phish and in the band’s early days, along with the stories behind songs like “Fluffhead,” “Meatstick,” “Slave to the Traffic Light” and “Architect,” among others. They also speak about the times Anastasio, a former drummer, would teach Jon Fishman complicated parts during their first year at the University of Vermont.

Marshall and Pollack also have a new project to discuss, a non-Phish musical outlet that had its beginnings when the two met and bonded at Festival 8. The new podcast episode also features some of that projects songs.
